Brosnan Attacks Obama Over Whales Promise
Whaling in the Faroe Islands
Pierce Brosnan is taking aim at U.S. leader PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA in a new public service announcement for the International Fund for Animal Welfare.
In the PSA, the former 007 reminds Obama of promises he made about protecting sea-life when he was a presidential candidate.
Brosnan says, “As a candidate, you promised to end illegal whaling, and we applauded your leadership, but recent reports reveal your administration supports an international proposal, which gives Japan, Iceland and Norway the license to kill whales.”

This is criminal. I’m sure there are dolphins with an intellect that surpasses some humans, yet we’d never consider hunting those people.

this is a complete crime against life it self, we´re human beings we´re supposed to be racional individuals look at this picture and then look at a hollocaust one its basically the same thing we DO NOT have the right to judge the value of life (wether its from a dog , a cat , a human being or a whale) cus we do not valueours in the firs place.

This is sad, but its no different then us killing cows. Sure we breed them to millions so they dont go extinct. I figure as long as the whole animal is used, not just the fins but the whole animal, and they hunt with limitation as not to make these creatures extinct then there should be no problems.
Blaze raises a good point though. Technically speaking, a license would make it legal to kill them, and Obama only promised to end “illegal” whaling. Not necessarily legal whaling.

Well just like everything else in Obama’s campaign here is yet another lie. He promised to end both wars. He promised to end rendition. He promised to restore habius corpus and posse comitatus. He promised not to make backroom deals with lobbyist. He promised to allow the people adequate time to read a bill. He promised a lot but to me it seems like he has adopted all of the failed policies of the Bush Administration
Those countries don’t really need the US permission to hunt whales, in atleast two of them it’s an older tradition than the US themselves. Obama has probably done everything he can do to keep his campaign promise, it’s just that he wasn’t elected president of the whole world
The whole animal isn’t used and that is part of the issue. Another issue is that at least with Japan, they claim it is for research purposes that they are hunting whales, but in reality they are hunting them for market and again they do not use the entire animal. The only difference between what Japan is doing with the whales and what others to with sharks for their fins is that the Japanese kill the whales in the beginning instead of hacking off parts and dumping them back into the ocean alive. The big issue is that they are being hunted into extinction. If it was possible to raise them like other live stock, it might not make headlines, but since that is impossible and they are being hunted into extinction, it’s a big issue.
